In the middle of all this, we are facing new challenges with our "new 2015" insurance company and their new "Pharmacy" (Express Scripts). Because of our forced switchover to a new healthcare plan ("we liked our old plan but we couldn't keep it") we had to start from scratch for nearly every aspect of her treatment, including the specialists, tests and the chemo treatments; with doctor's reports, pre-approvals, "bridges," and "overrides." And there are two Tier 3 drugs which she now requires daily, both of which we are about to run out of. We could not just refill them with Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy as in the past, or go pay outright for the drugs because they are very costly biologics. One of the drug companies offered Kris a free two month supply on an emergency basis, but as of yet nothing has been mailed to us.
A lot is still up-in-the-air. It is one thing to be sick, and another to be sick from dealing with this absurd healthcare system, where some people pay nothing and others go bankrupt because of a serious illness.
Hopefully everything will be worked out without interruption, despite the fact we are still waiting for our new, more expensive, 2015 Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance cards. Happy New Year to all.

Oh no, she didn't! (Henna Tattoos on her head, that is)
She said she was going to do it, and... well, if you know Kris...
Background info: Henna has been used for body art for centuries. The people of India use this form of temporary tattoo for religious ceremonies, wedding festivals, and for simple body adornment. It lasts about three weeks. Kris got hers done the day before Christmas locally. Next time she's going to "Little India" in Queens.Monday, December 22, 2014
Kris visited the office today
Kris stopped in to the office and was greeted by co-workers Fabian and Dan, who wore bald caps in her honor.
Happy Holidays
Kris on December 17, 2014 in her new hat, a festive gift from her good friend Inez made by Amy Downs, formerly of Amy Downs Hats at 151 Ludlow Street, NYC. First in a series of hat pictures.
Kris' seventh round of chemo is this Tuesday. After nine rounds they will reassess her treatment. Happy Holidays.

Abby's brother and our nephew Greg, who just got in from his Peace Corps post in Cameroon, at the Brooklyn Flea on Saturday afternoon December 13, 2014. Clockwise from top left: Keith Weissman, Abby Weissman, Kris and Greg Weissman. This was Kris' first social local outing in weeks, beside chemo and doctor's appointments.
